PoPFilmKC was organized and founded in 2012 by students at the University of Missouri-Kansas City with the goal of bringing an International Student Film Festival to Kansas City in 2013 to allow student filmmakers from across the globe to share their films in friendly competition.
By students, for students; our goal is to bring people together to experience our city’s beauty, diversity, and culture as we showcase the work of the world’s future filmmakers and help put Kansas City on the map of international filmmaking.
Our Mission Statement:
Paris of the Plains Student Film Festival provides a forum for exhibiting films made by the next generation of artists. The Festival introduces the public to the innovative works of the minds whose art will shape and inspire our future. We aim to join in and contribute to Kansas City’s cultural standing and to the growing community of artists who wish to make Kansas City their home. We are here to create a welcoming space for new filmmakers and the fine-arts industry.
We are PoPFilmKC.
